Uplifting Emerging Perspectives: Metanarratives and Theoretical Innovation in Critical Times

Today, the world evolves at a pace that demands constant readjustment, and the need for innovative perspectives has become more crucial than ever. As we continue to face increasingly complex challenges, it becomes clear that the established frameworks we take for granted are no longer enough. This era calls for a reexamination of the ideas that have long guided us, and their limitations. We must ask ourselves how we can move beyond the reductive approaches of the past and embrace alternative narratives that more closely reflect the multifaceted world of today. In a time when easy answers are often preferred, how do we recognise and address the intricacies of the issues at hand? How do we ensure that our solutions are fully cognizant of the nuanced problems they aim to solve?

This year’s SSLA Undergraduate Conference aims to answer these questions, challenge traditional frameworks, and explore innovative approaches. By critically engaging with dominant metanarratives of our time, we aim to innovate and uplift new ways of understanding our rapidly changing world. We invite undergraduate students from all across Pakistan to submit papers across various fields of social sciences, including history, political science, media and cultural studies, psychology, urban studies, literature, sociology, climate and sustainability, and related subjects. We welcome and encourage interdisciplinary approaches!

Join us in highlighting new voices and disruptive ideas that challenge traditional thinking. We look forward to your submissions, and to conversations that envision a better world.
