Bachelor of Science (BS) in Social Sciences and Liberal Arts
4 Years, Full-time Program

The BS in Social Sciences and Liberal Arts is a four-year undergraduate program where students can choose to major in one of these fields: Psychology, Political Science, Media and Culture, or History and a minor in one of these two: Literary Studies and Urban Studies. Courses that comprise the Liberal Arts and sciences component of the program, taken across all four years, introduce students to a range of academic disciplines including Philosophy, Literature, Visual Arts, Mathematics, Religion, Environmental Sciences, and Foreign Languages. This combination of core and elective courses allows students to develop comprehensive foundational skills in reading and writing, quantitative thinking, critical inquiry, and sustained research. Additionally, the Culminating Experience in the final year of the program allows each student to carry out an original research project of their own and complete two different summer internships: one focusing on social service and the other on research skills.

Master of Science (MS) in Development Studies
2 Years - Full-time Program

The Interdisciplinary approach in Development Studies enables scholars and practitioners of Development to consider the specificity of societies in terms of history, ecology, culture, technology, politics, etc., and how these differences both can and often should translate into varied 'local' responses to regional or global processes and strategies of development and methods. The MS Development Program is a full-time commitment with a minimum duration of 2 years and a maximum allowable completion period of 4 years. MS Development Studies provides high-quality and rigorous training needed to understand the methods, policies, and practices of development to ensure sustainable and inclusive change in society.

Master of Science (MS) General Psychology
2 Years - Full-time Program

The MS General Psychology program is for anyone interested in studying psychology at a postgraduate level. The place of psychology is no more limited to a laboratory or a counselling room. Psychology has applications in diverse areas of health and social care, educational sector, business and corporate, human resources and marketing. Interestingly, post-pandemic it is now also finding its place within the ever-evolving software development market with a peculiar focus on developing mental well-being interventions accessible to people using information technology.

IBA is offering an MS in General Psychology for the first time and our aim is to offer our postgraduate students an academic program that serves as a solid foundation for their future career and development within the field of psychological sciences. The program will help students develop transferable skills that could be utilized by potential employers including research methodology and ethics.

Master of Science (MS) in Journalism
2 Years - Full-time Program

The Master of Science (MS) in Journalism is the flagship degree program in Journalism at the School of Economics and Social Sciences at IBA. The 1.5-year long program allows students to immerse themselves in all forms of journalism – digital, audio and video – and gain practical experience in a newsroom under the guidance of skilled instructors, who bring with them experience from renowned national and international newsrooms. The Centre of Excellence in Journalism at IBA, provides support to this program through its state-of-the-art facilities and strong linkages with the industry. This is an opportunity for students to learn cutting-edge skills to enable them to find employment in reporting and production across various media platforms. They can also explore the intersection of technology and media and its impact on the journalism industry in Pakistan.
